The holiday season has officially started and people are flocking to the parks to be in the middle of the magic. Nobody does holidays like Disney and many of our students have family trips planned this time of year. We are often asked what work the children should do if they have to miss a day or two of school. Our response is always, “keep them reading.”
We started reminiscing about our favorite Disney trips and the places we love the most. As much as we enjoy the hustle and bustle of the parks, it’s great to find a quiet place to relax and unwind after a busy day of park hopping. For many of us, curling up with a good book while on vacation is a real treat. Whether you are a morning person or a night owl, there is something for everyone at Disney. We surveyed some friends and asked them to tell us about their favorite Walt Disney World reading spots. We asked, “ If you could curl up with a good book during a Disney vacation, where would it be and why?” We were surprised at the variety of answers! We loved each and every answer, but we wanted to narrow it down. It’s so hard to choose, but we have compiled our “Top 10” list to share with all of you. Here they are in no particlular order, because they are all #1 in our eyes!
Hammock at Disney’s Coronado Springs
“I love relaxing in a hammock while I read a good book. There is nothing like that Florida sunshine and a gentle breeze blowing to put me in a good mood!” –Joe
Epcot – France Pavilion
“I always love to order macaroons and find a small table or bench in France. I love to read my fashion magazines and pretend that I am really in Paris!”
– Cailin
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
“If you can find a lounge chair at Typhoon Lagoon, it’s a pretty good place to hang out and read. I usually read a few chapters and then go jump in the wave pool to cool off. You can’t beat that!” –Ryan
Fireplace at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
“There is something about a fire and the dark wood of the Wilderness Lodge that makes me want to sit down, relax and read my book. I love getting a cup of hot chocolate and sitting by the fire. It’s the perfect ending to a Disney day.” –John
The Solarium at Disney’s Beach Club Resort
“We had a thunder and lightning storm the last time we stayed at the Beach Club. I just left the Market Place with my morning coffee and heard the storm come in. The room has so many windows, that I was able to watch the light show from my chair. It just put me in the mood to read. It’s my favorite area of the resort. What a beautiful room!” -Roger
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
“There is something about sitting on the dock and watching the water that is so relaxing. I like to get up early and read the paper there before it gets too busy.” –Pat
Disney’s Polynesian Resort
“ I always get a Dole Whip and relax poolside. It’s a great place to spend a day sunning, reading or people watching.” -Terry
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
“I think the balconies at the Beach Club are the best place to read. You can see everything that is going on, but you can still have some quiet time.” -Sophia
